Hello,
Thank you for this excellent app. This is my first time owning a diesel vehicle, and managing the DPF has been a bit challenging.
My car is a Passat B9 (2026 model year, likely manufactured around November 2025).
The engine code is DXPB?, and I have selected Group 97.
When the app starts and connects to the Bluetooth adapter(=ODBLink MX+), an error message pops up.
If I close the error message, the data itself can be retrieved without any issues.
Looking through past threads, it seems that this error message for Group 97 was supposed to be suppressed during the app’s development.
The update notes on the Google Play Store also mention improvements related to this in the latest version.
However, the error message I see every time does not appear to be controlled by the app.
I’ve attached the log that corresponds to the error message.
Is it possible to suppress this message?

You're right, it should have been removed in the latest release, but I modified the code incorrectly.

Now I'm working on some improvement in the initialization routine to make the engine group selection fully automated also for newer 29-bit init engines like yours. The new release will solve also the unwanted error message issue, you just have to wait a little.

Hello,

First of all, this app is amazing, especially since it is available on android auto. With few clicks I can check whether my engine has active DPF regeneration on, its status, DPF health and more. Many thanks!
My car has DEZE engine, and it seems to work well with Group 18. The only issue is measured soot mass does not look like it's properly interpreted, after regen it's like -9.99g.
I am willing to provide a log file of ~4000km, although i had the app on for about 30-50% of that distance, certainly it captured multiple regens. It is in .txt file and sadly i cannot attach it here.

A big log can be useful for sure sooner or later.

The measured soot mass can show negative values, it's normal. This happens also with the official vag diagnostic software.
That value seems useless, but many users have reported it becomes correct in case of dpf system failure, in particular for differential pressure sensor failures. I've never experienced that, but I've seen many logs with wrong calculated soot mass values and realistic measured soot mass values.
In the end you can ignore the measured value if you don't have issues, hoping this never happens.

Strange, I don't see issue in your log, everything worked fine in the initialization.
What engine group you selected? Did you leave "read from the ECU"?

I see in the log that your engine code is DNAB, it should work setting the engine group 18 in the options, base on some received feedback. Can you try?

I have 2 questions looking your pictures:

the filling percentage higher that 100% is strange, does it happens often or it's just a single event due to a postponed regeneration? If it's always higher, it could be due to a wrong 100% value, in this case you should understand what could be the 100% value. It's usually near 24 grams for 2.0 TDI and 30 grams for 3.0 TDI (it isn't an always true rule). When you think you've found the 100% value, you can set it in the option "Field regeneration limit" to have the correct percentage calculation.

I will look at the injection values to see if they're >0.

This was the first time I used the app and the percentage deviation could also be coming from the fuel type, this vehicle runs mostly on HVO100, only 5.000km were driven on regular diesel -approximately between 10.000 and 15.000km. Oil was replaced at +- 20.000km and the engine oil has never seen diesel fuel yet. Engine oil will be replaced in two weeks at +- 37.000km again.

HVO100 produces some 90% less soot and this could also be why the percentage is higher than 100 due to unexpected, low, soot levels in the DPF. I haven't driven much and it did not regenerate yet, but will keep an eye out and post my findings here. I use HVO100 to prevent the intake and exhaust systems from clogging up with soot as I want to drive this vehicle to at least 600.000km.

It behaves the same way in my Škoda Kodiaq II 2024, there is always error message at the start but then everything works just fine. I think this was introduced with one of the previous versions as in the beginning when the 29-bit protocol was first introduced there was no error message at the start.

I confirm, I forced the error message to make the initialization log readable and savable for debug, but in a particular condition it is raised also if not really necessary.
I'm going to correct this issue in the next app release.

The percentage bar went all the way up to 38% over, keep in mind that my van runs on 100% HVO100 which could lead to a distorted reading of calculated oil ash and/or soot content.




I found these to be incorrect: "DistanceSinceLastRegen (km)" and "TimeSinceLastRegen (min)" where the first displays the 'DistanceSinceLastRefuel (km)' and the 'TimeSinceLastRefuel (min)", where the latter will automatically be correct when the first displays the correct attribute.


In this example the distance traveled since last refuel is "93km", I observed the "DistanceSinceLastRegen (km)" to be identical to this value.

Try to set the field regeneration limit to 30 grams in the options, I think that value will let you see every regen starting near 100%. This is a common issue for the filers with bigger soot capacity, for those I've always seen 30 as correct limit value.



Have you ever seen the distance and time since last regen values in another diagnostic app or in a forum online? Just to know if they are available in the diagnostic parameters for your engine.
In similar cases, I usually advise to set all other engine groups one by one in the options menu to check if the values become correct, but for the 29bit-init group we don't have anything other to test.

But, I'm working on a different approach for the 11/29 bit init selection because I want to have that option separated from the engine group, so an user can set the 29bit according to its engine requirement and then test all available engine groups, just like happens for the 11bit init engines.
I suspect that most of the parameter setups are shared between 11bit and 29bit ECUs and I want to give to the user the chance to test all of them, not only the B1 group (former 97 group). For this change I need a little time because it has a big impact on the init routine.

You should understand what could be the 100% value. It's usually near 24 grams for 2.0 TDI and 30 grams for 3.0 TDI (it isn't an always true rule). When you think you've found the 100% value, you can set it in the option "Field regeneration limit" to have the correct percentage calculation.

As this is the 2.0TDi 100% may be 24 grams, I'll check.

As you can see in the log file 30,03 gram was the top1 highest value, therefore I set the FieldRegenerationLimit to "30".

No, I'm an avid user of OBDLink and this app can also display some regen related values, I'll look into that to compare.
