Audi CRTD engine.

Post by foreroadicto » Sat Mar 07, 2020 4:47 pm

Audi CRTD engine 3.0 TDI 2015

Well, will it be compatible with this type of engine soon? It would be interesting if it worked even if it wasn't 100%.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I don't have experience on that engine. Have you already tested it with the free app? Maybe it already works, you should try using every engine group (you can change it manually in the options menu).

I've tried every engine group and it doesn't work with any... What a pity about what needed to work. I've changed jobs from doing 500-700 km trips every week to using it 4 times a day to do 40 km a day (10 at a time) and I need to check the particle filter.

Unfortunately, remotely I can't help you more. What you could do is try to use another adapter, in case yours isn't good enough for the app (it's required a good quality adapter, not a low cost cloned version).
Maybe you can ask for it to a friend.

Your engine is pretty recent and almost all engines since 2010-2011 work, maybe partially, but at least all the app core parameters work.

Thanks for the tips. What adapter do you recommend without it being too expensive?

Hi. I finally bought this model of adapter ( Vgate iCar 2 Bluetooth ) and it works with my CRTD engine.

Very good!

Now I see 2 problems:
  • oil ash and egr closing are unreadable, you should check if another engine group is able to read also these parameters; in case you won't find it, it's better to disable these parameters clicking on them
  • soot mass deposit has reach the 141% of filling, this means that you are interrupting the regeneration from very long time or the calculation formula is wrong (in this case you can change the reference value of the field regeneration in the options menu to match the medium value that your ECU uses to start the regeneration)

Sorry to be so clumsy about these things. About the first point I will go changing engine groups to find one that reads all the values (if any).

On the second point. I have obdeleven and vagcom cable, if you indicate me that I have to look to see if the dice you give me of 100%+41% are correct and so leave them or correct them.

Thank you.

You should check if the parameter "soot mass limit" or something similar is present in the ECU parameters list. This is the value you have to put in the "field regeneration limit override" text-box.

Alternatively you can understand what's the limit used by your engine to start the regeneration. To do this, simply check what's the soot mass calculated value that starts the regeneration registering 3-4 cases and taking the medium value. This is the value to be inserted in the options menu "field regeneration limit override", overriding the default.

Then you will see the percentage and the colored bar more consistent.

Hi. I got this from the Elsa program (from the VAG group). Is this the value you told me to look for?

No it isn't.

You've found the oil ash limit, what you need is the soot mass limit.

Oil ash is a deposit of unburned oil that remains in the filter and can't be removed (unless opening and cleaning the filter).
Soot mass is the particulate deposit that can be removed with the regeneration process.

Hi. I got him to do a regeneration (by forcing it with the obdeleven) and drop from 100%+44% to 17%.

Can you explain to me what the marked symbol means? The red numbers xxx err and the color difference of the gray marks in the filter

Thanks.

The number XXXXerr counts the number of reading errors, probably you have some field unreadable and at every update cycle you have one more error in the counter.

The other two circles are different because the internal color of the filter changes depending on the filling percentage: more soot mass are present, more dark color is in the filter.

Hi. Right, there's a field that doesn't read it.

Thank you.

Is there any other engine group in which you can see the EGR value read?

I've tried "I think" all of them, but I'll check again. Thank you.

In case you'll not find any way to read it, you should disable its with a click (it will become grayed) so the app won't waste time trying to read it in every updating cycle and the error counter won't increase.

Hi. After trying it out at the end in group 10, he reads me all the data. So I leave him in that group.

I have read that when it reaches 28g in "soot mass calc g", that is when it does a regeneration. If it exceeds 40gr as they say you can no longer force a regeneration. I stayed close to it, it was 35gr, I think I remember.

I can definitely add CRTD engine to group 10.

If you always see your regeneration starting near 28-30 grams, you can override the field regen limit in the options menu adding your preferred value, so the percentage will become correct.
