VAG DPF - one of the best apps I've ever used

Post by manilla » Tue Mar 02, 2021 9:56 am

Hi all,
I'm actually an iPhone user for many years, but for beeing able to use VAG DPF I have bought an additional Android smartphone!

One year ago I have changed my 17 years old Audi A6 to a one year old Audi Q5 140KW (DETA engine, AUSTRIA), now with this strange diesel particulate filter.

My new car drives very well and without any problem for nearly 10.000km now, but partial also going short distances and never realized any regeneration process of the filter.

Yesterday, it was a "WOW"-effect when I was able to watch first time the regeneration process with Daaren's app!

Thank you Daaren for this really great app!!!

Thanks!

I have the same engine but on an A4, the regeneration is quite hidden but if you pay attention you can feel the engine revs a little increased during the process. The idle revs are near 1000 rpm and the S-tronic shifts are a little delayed and higher.

Using the car in city on working days and in highway on the weekends, my filter regenerates every about 300 km. I'm satisfied with this engine.

As a specialist for diesel particulate filter could you please have a check over my first live 12 minutes regeneration process, if you can see especially noticeable parameters or it looks like a normal standardprocess.
I made screenshots every vew minutes

thanks

In my opinion everything's ok: temperatures, post injections and timings are in the common range I've seen in all other reports.

The image sequence is not correct, but looking at the "Regen duration" it's easy to reorder it.

Just the first photo should stay as the last one in the sequence ;)

The duration for regeneration was 12 minutes, and reduced the Soot Mass Calc from 22g to 5,24g in this time, not to zero value.
Do you have an idea why?

It's ok, the regeneration never stop at 0 grams because it would take many minutes more. When the filter is almost empty of soot, it's more difficult to increase the temperature because there is less particulate to burn inside the filter, so to keep the minimum temperature it would be necessary to inject more fuel increasing the consumption and the regeneration time. The ECU prefers to interrupt near 5-6 grams. In particular good conditions, it can go on down to 2-3 grams, for example driving in highway at constant speed.
