Oil Ach Residue 0.00

Post by LEO » Sat Jan 07, 2023 8:56 pm

Thanks to the developer of this useful app!
I have a Passat B7 CFFB with 276,000 miles. Just recently installed this useful app. I drive short distances, driving a total of about 70 - 100 km a day. The application works, but I have one question.
The application shows the Oil Ach Residue of my DPF as 0.00. Can these figures be trusted, given that my DPF was flushed at a service station on DPF flushing equipment? I've driven 25,000 miles since this DPF flush.

The value can be correct only if the service performed the oil ash reset procedure using a diagnostic software during the cleaning.
This is possibile if the service has a good knowledge of the VW DPF system.
In this case you should see the value increasing again in the next future, otherwise the parameter configuration could be wrong for your engine, but in this case the value should be an "nd" instead of a fixed 0.

I do not know if the ash content of the oil was reset by the service. Let's say it's made. But did it really not accumulate in the DPF after my car's run of 25 thousand km? Its values are exactly 0.00 and not "nd".

Oh yes you're right. I read 25 miles instead of 25k miles. With this mileage your oil ash must have grown up for sure.
Sometimes some parameter can't be read depending on the ECU sw version, in this case you can try all other engine groups looking for the oil ash read correctly. If you find it, let me know the group.

I tried all the engine groups that are in the VAG DPF application. Oil Ach Residue 0.00 or nd, no other values were found. I checked the car with the help of the VCDS autoscanner - Oil Ach Residue = 0.00.

This probably means that your engine doesn't have that value available for diagnostic. Many engines have that lack.

You're right, that's the only reason there can be values like this. It is a pity that there is no control, this is an important indicator of the state of the DPF.
Tell me, please, what other indicators can I use to evaluate the state of my DPF? How can I know if my DPF needs to be replaced or flushed?

Usually you can see the filter performance drop year by year and the first consequence is a reduced mileage between the regenerations.
There isn't a fixed value ok Km to be used as reference because each engine and each driving style can heavily increase or decrease it.
The best way would be to compare the values of your car with those of years before, but if you don't have the old values you can try to compare your filter performance with filters of similar car/engine/driving-style.
