Motor DPCA

Post by JALKY22 » Wed Mar 30, 2022 9:35 am

Buenos días a todos, tengo un obd icar 2 y no consigo conectarlo al coche. El tipo de motor es DPCA. Es un Seat Ateca del 2022. Si con ese obd no es compatible, agradecería que alguien me dijese cual sería compatible. Muchas gracias

It's better to write in English in this forum, I added the google translation to your message.

iCar 2 is a good adapter, I own it and it works fine.

Your engine is pretty recent and I don't have feedback about it. Using the free app, you could try to set the engine group 18 in the options menu that is for the recent DTTC engine. Anyway if it doesn't work, try also all other groups.

What exactly happens? Can it read at least the engine data with the pink text at the bottom of the screen?

yes, it reads it, but I have tried with all the engine groups and none detect it. Engine type is DPCA. What obd would I use to use the app?

This screenshot confirms that the communication is correct because the ECU parameters are read correctly.
This is the only engine groups that give you some value? I see the soot mass read correctly but with value 0 (that is wrong of course). All other engine groups give you "nd" only?

I have gone one by one and in all it says the same. if you notice above where it connects with the car there is one that is in yellow. it is because it does not link with the car

Just a second: I see that your engine is a TSI so gasoline engine. This is the problem! The app works only with diesel engines with DPF system.

I tried months ago to connect to a gasoline car with GPF system but the parameters setup is completely different and I don't have possibilities to study it to introduce the compatibility.
Anyway in a gasoline engine the GPF impact should be very low because the engine should normally produce hot gas without the help of post injections. Active regenerations should be much less than a diesel DPF system.

Hello everyone, is there an update for petrol engines yet?
Best regards

I've had the opportunity to connect a VCDS tester to a gasoline engine for some kms and in my opinion an app to check the GPF is useless.
The soot mass seems to stay always near a fixed value, it doesn't increase linearly to reach the regen limit like in a TDI engine. Sometimes it decreases a little, probably it's an active regeneration, but the process takes only 1-2 minutes and the driver can't notice it in any way.
In a gasoline engine the regeneration is probably always present due to the higher gas temperature, it doesn't exist the full regeneration to reduce the soot mass from the limit value to the minimum value, the soot mass is automatically burned enough during the normal driving.
