I have a Tiguan with the same engine (DTSB), and I have selected Engine Group 18 in Settings - everything seems to work as expected.
On the other hand, I have a problem with rapid soot build up in periods when I use the car only for short journeys in town - regenerations take place between 80 and 100km. When I use the car on highways, the periods between regenerations stretch to 280-290km. How do these numbers sound to you - compared to your car?

It seems there are part of DTSB working with the app and part not working. Probably the newer ECU software versions have been updated using the new initialization protocol that the app VAG DPF currently doesn't support. Unfortunately there isn't a reliable method to understand what's the protocol in the ECU.
