t is recommended to add the engine coolant temperature parameter, as water temperature is closely related to soot formation.
Can you explain better?
I've never saw a so strong link between water temp and DPF system.
Usually the regeneration starts when the water temperature is in the normal range, but I've also experienced situations in which the field regeneration has been launched by the ECU just some seconds after a cold start in winter. It's not the best to quickly increase the engine temperature from a cold start, but probably the "urgency" to complete the regeneration, when soot mass is high, prevails over everything else.
My conclusion was that the field regeneration can start regardless of the water temperature.
Anyway, the app has limited parameter quantity because I preferred to focus on the most important ones. Otherwise it would become just like any other diagnostic app with tons of parameters.
I know there would be many other interesting parameters to add, but I wanted to show only the most important ones to have a quick check of the DPF condition and not a full diagnostic report. For that, there are many other professional apps available on the market.
