Was hoping for support from this app with the ckra engine found in 2012-15 passats, saw a post somewhere about it being usable via one of the engine groups but nowhere is it listed or showen to be supported

Usually I wait for 3-4 positive feedback before to add an engine to the app. When I receive both positive and negative feedback, I prefer to wait for a more clear view because the engine type code isn't enough to classify the diagnostic protocol, I've found cases of engines with the same type code but completely different diagnostic setup due to a different software version.
The engine type code is a common ID that can be easily find on the web, also just to understand the engine family; the software version is something quite hidden and I can't build a real database to classify all the variants. I simply put what I find based on the feedback from users, but it isn't a robust way to have a reliable database.

After that, CKRA should work using engine group 2, but I have only 2 feedback about it.

I see thanks for this small explanation, Im currently using the A30M xtool scanner. It supports bidirectional scanning but when trying group 2 it does not appear to connect. Referring to several software types being used by the same engine code i have to do some more research about that. But if you have an idea of why it refuses to connect please do let me know. Thanks again.

Unfortunately it's impossibile to understand if the issue is caused by the adapter or by the ecu unsupported.
Also in the same engine type, a different software revision can change the diagnostic setup making the app unable to read anything.

An useful information would be to know if your engine diagnostic is based on the old VW-TP-2.0 protocol or on the new ISO-TP (ISO 15765-2) protocol.
In the first case there's no way to use VAG DPF because it's unsupported, in the second way we could have a chance.
