Re: VW Amarok V6 DDXE engin

Thanks for the update, I've read your other post with the adapter link.
I had a suspect about the new engine's protocol issue that can be only matter of speed and quality of the adapter, but I can't verify this until I have a new engine available.
Can you post a screenshot of the app connected? Thanks

Re: regeneration is between 20 and 40 km

Have you logged some trip with the app? If you have the log file I can check the values.

Re: VW Amarok V6 DDXE engin

I don't have experience with this engine. If it's a new TDI288 EVO engine, the app doesn't work with it yet, I need to test one of this new engines to check the new diagnostic setup introduced with this family.

Re: regeneration is between 20 and 40 km

I'm sorry, I never experimented that procedure, I only know it exists.
If you don't have any other advice, maybe try to go deep in this possibility..

Re: regeneration is between 20 and 40 km

I know that after a filter cleaning, including a full oil ash residue removing, it's recommended to reset all learned data with a specific command present in the official software ODIS, or also in VCDS. Do you know if they did it? Have you logged some values to understand if there is some parameter ...

Re: regeneration is between 20 and 40 km

Remotely is very difficult to help you. The cleaning was done by official service? Have you checked the ECU error logs?

New TDIs have a new diagnostic setup that I didn't tested yet. I'm waiting to find a car to make a test with my instruments.

Re: "ECU responds always no data"?

The error means no answer from the ECU for every parameter.
The problem should be in the adapter because the app and the ECU didn't change anything.
Usually an adapter unpair / re-pair cycle solves these kind or issues.
Maybe try the adapter with other apps to understand if it works.

Re: Emission roll back and remap questions

Personally I think no. What you see is a temporary ECU behavior due to the learned values missing, I think. A map change usually erases all the learned values included the DPF statistics, so the ECU starts to learn them again and in this phase, like for a new car, the regenerations start more freque...

Re: New engine type?

It's a problem related to the new TDI engines, their protocol has something different that makes the app not working.
I'm working on this issue and I'm waiting to find a car for test near to me.

Re: Bluetooth vs USB adapter

I never experimented an USB cable in my test because for automotive/obd software, the USB version is very rare.
What I know is that the bluetooth version has a physiological delay due to the bluetooth communication, but for OBD non-professional data reading can be accepted.

Re: What does this all mean?

Just another question: have been your ECU chip tuned? I ask this because an engine working in recovery state without any warning light on (and no errors in the log) is a common case that happens when the tuner removes all the diagnostic functions in the ECU to prevent any problems, for himself of co...

You can see the answer in the FAQ:
https://www.applagapp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=319

Your engine uses the old diagnostic protocol that isn't supported by the app.

Re: More exhaust temperatures available?

The double value is a different way to request data to the ECU available in the ISO specs. This single request contains the 2 parameters and the single answer contains the 2 values. It would be a faster way to duplicate the fields available on the screen, losing only some milliseconds due to the sli...

Re: More exhaust temperatures available?

Very new car 8-) I confirm, this engine heavily uses the 2 EGR valves, in fact in my experience the regenerations occur every about 250-300 km. Customizable fields is a possibility to add new values as well as a new page, but the big problem for me is to collect similar information from different en...

Re: More exhaust temperatures available?

I have DETA engine too ;) Yes it would be possibile to read canbus and obd protocol at the same time, but this solve only one of my limits .. the screen size is limited, I'd like to add more useful data, but I had to make a choice to select only the 12 most important values and to keep the app more ...

Re: More exhaust temperatures available?

Interesting topic! What's your engine type? I know the regeneration process and I agree that there are many other parameters useful to understand what the engine is doing, but my main problems are the limited screen size and the differences between every VAG engine. Unfortunately, VAG doesn't have a...

Re: What does this all mean?

There something strange in this picture, the soot mass calculated value clearly is impossible and also time/distance since las regen value are very high. Moreover if you report strange engine behaviors, I think there is something faulty in the system, but it's pretty impossibile to understand where ...

Re: CAYC 1.6 TDI

In all the technical documentation I've found, I never read anything about the soot mass measured value. All diagnostic procedures refer to the soot mass calculated. Moreover the measured value gives weird data, sometimes negative and sometimes decreasing while the calculated value increases. The on...

Re: CAYC 1.6 TDI

It's difficult to know that. The soot mass calculated can be wrong if some sensor provides wrong data that make the entire calculation wrong. The ECU has internal diagnostic routines that give it information to understand if some sensor is faulty and consequently anticipates the regeneration. The su...
