Re: Is my DPF finished?

My personal opinion, absolutely not from an expert, is that the ECU reads all the parameters and "create" the calculated soot mass value. When some parameter doesn't stay in the predefined range or doesn't change in a predefined way, the ECU changes the calculated value to the field regeneration lim...

Re: 2012 Touareg CRCA , exhaust gas temperature

Are you sure about the sensors location? Because the ECU needs to know input and output DPF temperatures to make its calculation. It would be strange if the output gas temperature were missing. I give a check also in my documentation to find more information. About the EGR, the values of group 1,7,1...

Re: 2012 Touareg CRCA , exhaust gas temperature

CRCA isn't present in the app database, so you're using the engine group 0 as default. This group reads temperature sensors 3 and 4 of your VCDS picture, but I've recorded also the other 2 values in my analysis so it's easy for me to change them for your engine. I'll create a new group for CRCA type...

Re: Is my DPF finished?

I confirm what I've already written: suddenly the soot mass calculated jumps to the limit value to force the regeneration and the distance since every regeneration is around 30 km, too little. The DPF replacement should be the last action you can do, first you may change some sensor. The diagnosis w...

Re: Is my DPF finished?

The DPF system has some issue for sure. The sudden jump of the soot mass calculated means there is some parameter that the ECU consider out of range or implausible so it work in a sort of recovery mode starting regenerations earlier than usual. This is often caused by the differential pressure senso...

Re: Is my DPF finished?

I still don't see any image ... The oil ash percentage is the value you have to consider to check the DPF life. When i reaches the 100%, the DPF should be replaced, as the VAG engineers planned. The differential pressure sensor is probably what you've replaced, I don't think there is a single "press...

Re: Is my DPF finished?

I don't see the attached images, but I can understand reading your message. Oil ash residue is not a parameter strictly related to the regeneration process, it shows the amount of unburned oil ash that can't be removed by the filter because it doesn't burn during the regeneration. This value increas...

Re: Question regarding the way this app reads data from the ECU

I used Torque many years ago and I remember that it works using the OBD protocol.
My app use the canbus iso protocol instead that is more complicated. Sincerely I don't know if the 2 protocols share something because I didn't analyze the OBD protocol in depth.

Re: Info app in regeneration

This is what I've read in many forums, but I have the automatic gearbox and I can't decide to stay constantly at a specific RPM, the gearbox decides. I noted that the shift regime is slightly increased, but the engine doesn't stay over 2000 RPM for seconds/minutes when I'm driving at constant speed,...

Re: Info app in regeneration

Don't worry, the app is read only, it can't actively interact with the ECU. The regeneration finishes almost always around 25% of filling, this because to continue down to 0%, it would require many more time and fuel to keep the filter temperature high enough. When the filter is full, the high tempe...

Re: VAG DPF - one of the best apps I've ever used

It's ok, the regeneration never stop at 0 grams because it would take many minutes more. When the filter is almost empty of soot, it's more difficult to increase the temperature because there is less particulate to burn inside the filter, so to keep the minimum temperature it would be necessary to i...

Re: VAG DPF - one of the best apps I've ever used

In my opinion everything's ok: temperatures, post injections and timings are in the common range I've seen in all other reports.

The image sequence is not correct, but looking at the "Regen duration" it's easy to reorder it.

Re: VAG DPF - one of the besg apps I've ever used

Thanks! I have the same engine but on an A4, the regeneration is quite hidden but if you pay attention you can feel the engine revs a little increased during the process. The idle revs are near 1000 rpm and the S-tronic shifts are a little delayed and higher. Using the car in city on working days an...

Re: Intervalle regeneration 1.6 tdi

I changed from post injection 1 to differential pressure because this second value is more related to the regeneration process than the first. Post injection 1 in fact is used principally for emissions and noise reduction so its value doesn't give useful information about the regeneration. Post inje...

Re: DPF Light on after Active Regeneration

Never happened to me, maybe is due to the long regeneration time?
If the lamp is off, for the ECU the problem is solved.

You should check the ECU error log with a diagnostic software, if there is an error it should have more details to better understand the problem.

Re: LOW km range between active regens

The car should inform you when the filter life is ended. I think the engineers have considered an acceptable performance if the oil ash level is within the limit, so I wouldn't have much trouble on that. Yes, the distance between regenerations will decrease day by day, but you shouldn't notice any d...

Re: LOW km range between active regens

The filter performance decreases due to the oil ashes increasing inside it. This is a slow process that takes about 250-300 k km to reach the maximum accepted value, but I don't know how the distance between regenerations will decrease after the filter replacement. I never experienced that.

Re: ELM 327

I own an Obdlink LX adapter that is worldwide known as very good. It uses an STN chip instead of ELM, but it's fully compatible with ELM specification and add more commands and programmable options for professional use. Obdlink has also an USB version that, I suppose, has the same quality. I don't h...

Re: ELM 327

The app can't test the adapter in a so detailed way. It just ask to the adapter if the AT command is known, but how it manages the command can't be tested with the device-to-adapter connection. It would be necessary to connect also the other side of the communication line and to perform a real commu...
