Post by JanuszSk » Sat Apr 06, 2024 12:34 pm

Hello,
Will the app be working with VW Touareg III 3.0 diesel - DENA engine, 2018?

Also: is the app indifferent to work with bluetooth and/or wifi?

Kind regards,
Janusz.

Unfortunately I don't have any feedback about this engine.
You should try by yourself with the free app.

You can use bluetooth or wifi adapter, but I advise the bluetooth version because I've seen in the past that wifi adapters quality is very low, probably due to their low diffusion in the market.
Bluetooth version is very common, but also with this version you can find poor quality adapters. Usually a low cost chinese adapter doesn't work with app that requires the full canbus protocol compliance like VAG DPF. Those adapters work fine only with OBD2 apps because they use a cracked old ELM firmware, modified to work only with OBD2 protocol, just because almost all diagnostic apps in the mobile market use that protocol.

A good adapter that I usually advise is the Carista one, it costs more but has a guaranteed good quality.

Ok, thank you.

The app works fine with my DENA angine is several grousp (3 different groups I think) but shows somwhat different results from group to group.

Can I somehow help you to have DENA officialy included (and tested if needed - by me, maybe others too)?

Can you post here the screenshot of the working groups? Maybe I can find what value is correct and what is wrong.

Hi,
I am away now and not with my car. But I have some screenshots taken just before, during and after my first monitored regeneration.
First shots are with Group 10, something was funny as the indicator went to 110%. So I switched to another group, it is not shown - I guesss this was auto-detection mode (first on the list). Regeneration started then - but time was not shown.
I can make more such screenshosts id different groups if this is what you meant?

Group 0 (auto-read) seems the best one.
Regen duration isn't available, but it's the same for the other groups, probably this parameter has a different pid or it isn't available to read.
Other groups don't let you read any value?

Using the group 0 you should give a check to the values to undestand in they're correct by the formula point of view. For example values with time should follow the real clock time, and distance values should follow the real mileage of the car.
A wrong calculation in the conversion is always possibile when the engine isn't officially supported, don't trust on the values.
Check also the filling percentage that your DPF reaches when the regeneration starts: if it's alway far from 100%, your filter dimension is probably different from what set for the selected engine group and you must correct the field limit in the options menu. For example if you see it always starts the regen near 30 grams, corresponding to a percentage of [100% + 38%], you have to set 30 grams as field limit to see the correct percentage 100% at that value.
